My Morning & Nightime Skincare Routine | Combination Skin

April 12, 2020

At the request of my amazing virtual book club (aka my close friends), I have finally outlined my current skincare routine. And as they all know, I am and always have been obsessed with taking care of my skin. Most of my products hail from France, which is simply happenstance and potentially because I am a big fan of Biolgique Recherce products 🙂

I am striving to move more towards clean beauty; however, I am still in the discovery phase of figuring out what does and does not work. It’s an expensive trial and error period.  (Items marked with an * are clean skincare products.  To check the other product ratings visit the EWG website.)

I have a few staple products which I always keep in my rotation – P90 Toner, The Clarasonic, Elta MD SPF & a good serum.  I personally do not believe it matters what brands you use, as long as you are consistent in taking care of your skin, exfoliating and protecting it from the sun through SPF and moisturizer………oh wait, don’t forget retinol (If you are not pregnant or breastfeeding).

Finally, my AM and PM routine are based around a skin regime for combination skin.  I don’t really suffer from acne, but I do have an oily T-zone which makes me prone to black-heads and I have fair Irish skin making me susceptible to dark spots.

MORNING

Cleanse: Effaclar by La Roche-Posay (I alternate facewashes often, this is the one I am using atm and until it runs out.  After it’s  finished, I am going to try an all-natural gentle wash by Acure)

Toner: Thayers Witch Hazel Toner

Serum: Vitamin C suspension by The Ordinary  (Just testing this for the next month. My sister told me Vitamin C increases the potency of SPF and the antioxidants help with the air pollution throughout the day)

Moisturizer: Lait-Creme Concentre by Emroylisse

Eye Cream: Creme Contour Des Yeux VIP O2 by Biolgique Recherce

SPF: UV Physical Broad-Spectrum SPF 41 lightly tinted: by Elta MD. (This is my favorite!)

NIGHT

Eye Makeup Remover: Sensiblo H2O by Bioderma* (You can also use coconut oil)

CleanseEffaclar by La Roche-Posay or Brightening Facial Scrub by Acure * (When I remember, I do a double cleanse. First with an oil-based cleanser to remove any SPF from the AM, followed by the normal cleanse).

Toner: Lotion P50 Toner* by Biologique Recherche (I alternate using this with the retinol)

Serum: Collagne Natif by Biolgique Recherce  (I rotate serums often, trying to find the one I love. I tried SkinCueticals for the past few months, but didn’t see dramatic results for the price.)

Retinol Cream: Tretinoin Cream .1% (prescription). An alternate option is a Retinol Cream by Skin Cueticals

Eye Cream: Creme Contour Des Yeux VIP O2 by Biolgique Recherce

Lash Serum: Revitalash (2 for the price of one during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale)

Moisturizer: Ren Ever Calm Overnight Recovery Balm*. (I am going to try First Aid Beauty Repair Mask next, as my skin still felt dry in the AM.)

MASKS

Blackhead Clay Mask: Indian Healing Clay by Aztec Secret* (Use once a week for blackheads – it’s liquid gold!)

Uneven Skin Mask: TLC Sukari Babyfacial Lissant by Drunk Elephant* (Use every other week for skin brightness. Love this mask! )

Moisturizing Mask: Masque Creme Anti-Soif by Clarins (I want to switch and try a mask by Avene next. I feel I need something heavier, as my skin drinks this so fast.)

TOOLS

Clarasonic: I use this once a day and swear by it!

Jad Roller: I use this to push my serums into my skin (not necessary if you push the serum in with your hands)

Twinkle Razor: Helps get ride of any peach fuzz or remove dead skin cells after using retinol

I hope this post helps you on your skincare journey! I would love to know your thoughts on any of these products & I am always open to new recommendations! (DM me!)
